Every time you step on the gas, you’re using energy. Energy is required to accelerate or decelerate a vehicle. Power is the rate at which energy is used. Your vehicle uses a tremendous amount of energy just to get it moving. An average a 4 door sedan is equipped with a 200 horse power motor which translates to 150,000 Watts. On average, when accelerating your vehicle from a full stop, your vehicle requires about 50 horse power. Putting things into perspective, every time you accelerate your vehicle, it’s equivalent to turning on 622 60 watt light bulbs.
